Consumers Energy Foundation bolsters Jackson Anchor Initiative with $50,000 grant

The Jackson Anchor Initiative announced today it is receiving a $50,000 contribution from the Consumers Energy Foundation, helping support developments, such as the Hayes Hotel renovation and new housing that will bring shoppers, diners and other economic activity to downtown Jackson.

“The Consumers Energy Foundation has been a wonderful partner of the Jackson Anchor Initiative,” said Anchor Initiative CEO Scott Fleming. “We continue to see investments, growth, and interest from businesses and consumers to downtown Jackson and we will continue to push for more improvements to the city.”

The Consumers Energy Foundation donation will allow the Anchor Initiative to move forward with plans to be actively involved in the renovation of the Hayes Hotel, the creation and redevelopment of additional residential units, attraction of new retail stores that address the needs of residents and marketing the benefits of living in downtown Jackson.

“By bringing in more retail shops, restaurants, and new market rate housing, the Anchor Initiative has found success in revitalizing the core of our hometown of Jackson. The Consumers Energy Foundation is dedicated to ensuring Michigan businesses and communities are growing and thriving. We are thrilled to support the Anchor Initiative in its efforts to bring energy and vibrancy to downtown Jackson,” said Carolyn Bloodworth, secretary/treasurer of the Consumers Energy Foundation.
